Meet the resilient souls at The Humane Society of Concord who have become the heartbeats of the shelter—a steadfast community of Long Timers. Among them, dogs with tails that wag with hope despite the passing seasons, and cats whose purrs echo patience and unwavering trust. Each of these animals embodies resilience, having spent days that turned into weeks, and weeks that turned into months, awaiting the warmth of a forever home. At HSOC, time is not a constraint but a commitment—to nurture and protect until every wag and purr finds its perfect match. These animals have become a part of our family, but they long for a home of their own.

After spending most of their young lives outdoors navigating unsafe conditions, they are now learning to trust and enjoy the comfort of a safe home. Rio, about 12 pounds, is the more confident and affectionate brother, often taking the lead and keeping a watchful eye while Diego stays close by his side. Diego is smaller and more timid, finding reassurance in Rio’s presence as he slowly builds confidence. They are full of life - not a single teaser toy or broom is safe when they are around. Have you ever seen a cat fly? Because we've seen Lluvia fly. It is not uncommon to see these two trotting along together finding their next escapade to dive into. We often joke that if there is trouble to be had, Sol and Lluvia are likely involved. Suspect #1 and Suspect #2 get along with other cats and would love a home with endless amounts of toys and people to keep them nice and busy.
